URBANA — An Urbana man who admitted he had a stolen gun more than a year ago was sentenced to three years in prison. Brendan Wells, 24, whose last known address was on Richard Drive, pleaded guilty last week before Judge Randy Rosenbaum to that offense, admitting that on Feb. 1, 2022, he had the gun in a Champaign apartment where he was living. University of Illinois police found it as they were investigating Wells for selling cannabis while armed. In return for his plea, the state dismissed other charges alleging that Wells had cannabis for sale and that the gun's serial number was defaced.
